You have a lot of contact information; phone numbers, web IDs, physical and email addresses. Not only does this information change and grow over time, but the pieces you share with people and places, varies. So we've re-organized our service to better reflect this reality.

At any point in time, there's a finite set of contact information about you. So why not enter and maintain it in one place - a secure, hidden place that only you can access. In AKA, we call this your Master Profile - the place where you securely store ALL your contact information.

Separate from the maintenance and storage of this information, we let you choose what parts to share with the people and places you connect with. You can choose what to share with anyone who might have your AKA openID - we call this your Public Card. And as you register in web sites with your AKA openID, you'll get a chance to decide what parts of your contact information you'll share with that site. Likewise, you can choose what to share with friends and colleagues to whom you've given your AKA openID.

This chart shows the difference between the original AKA, and the new openID AKA:

Original AKA New openID AKA
Organize your contact information into cards; one for home, one for work, up to a maximum of 5. Enter all your contact information into a Master Profile; a secure and private store for all your information.
Control the information you show to the public, by hiding individual elements (e.g. cell number) in your cards. Control the information you show to the public, by way of a Public Card - a restricted view of the information you entered in your Master Profile. You choose what to reveal and what to keep private.
Reveal more information to your friends or colleagues by "opening up" one or more of your cards to them (revealing all it's hidden information.) Reveal specific information to your friends and colleagues by establishing a Card for each.

And when you use your AKA openID to register in a web site, the information they request will come directly from your Master profile, with your permission, of course.

And as always, when you change your contact information, everyone to whom you've given access, will get the change.
